CQ Block

On the HGTV board, I participated in a crazy quilt one block swap...names were drawn and you needed to make a block based on what your swapper loved. I got a really funny lady named Sassy who wanted an all white backgroud, romantical type block...this for me was easy as I love "girlie" type things...I went with a wedding theme for her and this is what I came up with !! Hopefully Sassy loves her block !

Summer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, after 40 days and 40 nights of rain, it looks like our weather has finally taken a turn for the better....ok, maybe it wasnt that long, but it felt that way !!!

So...in honor of NO rain for TWO whole days, I thought it would be ok to make a summer mini miranda bag !!! (Just dont look inside at my mistake !)
I think SUMMER might finally be here !

More Pictures

Looks like its time to add a few more pictures for your viewing pleasure !!

The first one is a paper pieced kimono that I made for a friend's birthday..the fabric matches the mini kimono quilt I made her earlier this year.

The second one is my mini quilt from the swap on the HGTV quilting board. Terrimae got me in the swap and this is the wonderful, beautiful quilt she made for me. I love it and the fabric she picked is just so...me.

I must be into "mini" things this year...I just finished making my sister a "mini" miranda bag.. I have made a large one too but felt it was really too big...so I decided to make me a small one..and then was asked to make her one....I think I like making mini things...its a good feeling to have finished something this year

Not missing

I havent been missing in action, just trying to finish up a few things for swaps !
Today I finished Terrimae's little Summer mini as part of the HGTV group mini swap. I am calling it Swimsuit sampler and will post a picture once Terri receives it later this week.

I also finished making the foundation block for Sassyneedlepusher for Nicki's one block swap for CQ on the HGTV board....I am very happy with the way it turned out and cant believe that I made it with no help...pretty soon I will start embellishing it for her to make sure it is done for the August deadline.

Im also hosting a Jumpin'Jivin' swap on the HGTV board where 20 women have signed up to make 4 gifts each and in turn I will swap them out when I have received them all. The goal is to have them all reach their new homes in time to open them from July 1-4th !!!!

So...what are you working on ????

My First Mini

On the HGTV board, I am participating in a Mini Quilt swap and have never made one before. In talking to my friend Nicki, we decided we would do a mini mini swap between the two of us...she loves Asian fabrics and LOVES the color blue...so what could be more prefect than an Asian blue mini quilt ??? The quilts not perfect, but the idea was there !!

Little things mean a lot

I think Im like most people and love surprises. Friday I had a slip in my mail box to go pick up a package at the window...so...I picked it up and it was a box that had traveled all the way from North Carolina. I shook it, it didnt make any noise....it wasnt very heavy...needless to say I was perplexed. I am the type though that can wait to open things and drove home with it sitting next to me in the front seat. It was trying to get the better of me and at every stop light I kept trying to tear the tape off and get inside....wasnt working too good !! So, finally I got home and tore open the package...inside was this cute little guy !

Quiltaholic had found him on her journey back from the Retreat in Manchester and had thought of me !!!! What a wonderful surprise and memory of the Retreat !!! Thanks Q!!!!!!!

Birthdays can be fun again.....

Yesterday I turned 49...one step closer to the big 50!! This year I was in the CQ Embellishment swap on the HGTV board and received close to 30 packages of all fun things for CQing... for those not familiar with CQ...it stands for Crazy Quilting. Originally when I heard about it, I said NO WAY !! No way was I going to get into another hobby...but...thanks to my good friend Nicki, that did NOT happen. I cant wait to open all these packages and see the wonderful things that all these Crazy Ladies have sent.

But, I did want to share a picture of a gift I received from a friend who is not a quilter, crazy she might be, but not a quilter. This is absolutely adorable...it is a tea pot in the shape of a sewing machine and has a blue and white quilt on it...How cute is that !!! It is perfect and I love it....

WELCOME!!!

Welcome to my first blog...called " Lost in a Quilt Store". This is my first attempt at blogging, so please excuse any little errors I may make.

The reason I named my blog, Lost in a Quilt Store, is that is exactly what happens to me when I enter one....I always say it will only take a minute to find what I am looking for, but of course, hours have gone by and I feel that I am lost. This is the place for me to share my love of quilting, crazy quilting and cross stitch with everyone !!!
